Sports Medicine/Athletic Trainers
Athletic trainers are healthcare professionals who work with physicians and other medical professionals to provide preventative care, emergency response, and rehabilitative care for patients who receive injuries as athletes or while engaging in athletic activities. Athletic Training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations and disabilities.
Athletic training is NOT the same profession as Personal Training. Licensed or certified athletic trainers work with more than just athletes - they can be found just anywhere that people are physically active ranging from local athletic organizations, to your local industrial plant, to the Armed Forces and everywhere in between.
